A Sudy on Mutual Relationship and Responsibility of Teachers and Students from the Perspective of Islam

Abstract

In the Islamic system, clarifying the boundaries, rights, and etiquettes governing the relationship between teacher and student is a fundamental and decisive issue. If these principles are not properly understood and observed, the teaching and learning process is disrupted, academic ethics are weakened, and the efficiency of academic institutions is reduced. Accordingly, the present study examines the mutual responsibilities and etiquettes of teachers and students from the perspective of Islamic Sharia. The significance of this study lies in its focus on the two main pillars of the educational process and its effort to clarify the religious and ethical foundations of constructive interaction between teachers and students. The aim of this research is to enhance teachers’ and students’ awareness of their religious and ethical responsibilities, improve the quality of teaching and learning, and provide an appropriate foundation for educating conscious, capable, and beneficial students for Islamic society. This article adopts a descriptive and analytical approach and is based on library research, seeking to collect and analyze authoritative juristic and educational views on the academic relationship between teachers and students. The findings indicate that Islamic Sharia, in order to achieve goals such as improving educational quality, effective engagement with learning, strengthening Islamic ethics, and reinforcing academic relations, has established a set of mutual etiquettes and responsibilities for teachers and students. Overall, the results show that one of the factors contributing to the failure of some academic and educational programs and the weakness of academic skills among some students is the lack of awareness of, and neglect toward, these etiquettes and responsibilities by certain teachers and students.
