The Study of Using Word Classes in Turkmen Language

Abstract

In the Turkmen language, word classes are studied within the framework of linguistic change, focusing on the formation, transformation, structures, and classification of words into specific groups according to certain rules and principles. Therefore, it has become a common practice and custom to classify words into different categories for linguistic analysis. Like other languages, the Turkmen language has its own grammatical system, and it can be examined based on specific grammatical rules and principles. Accordingly, in Turkmen morphology, words can be classified into the following categories: nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, numerals, conjunctions, interjections, modal words, and sentence-final particles. Each category is examined with various examples. The aim of this research is to review previous studies on the use of word classes in Turkmen language and to present new scientific findings in this field, which we hope will be beneficial for researchers and scholars working on this topic. Although some general studies have been conducted on this subject in Afghanistan, Turkey, and Iran that they are regrettably limited. However, in foreign countries, especially in Turkmenistan, extensive research has been carried out.
