Melon production and its effects on the income level of farmers of Afghanistan (Case study: Aqcha district)

Abstract

Agricultural products have undeniable effects on growth, development, and economic self-sufficiency. Therefore, understanding and illustrating these impacts require extensive and continuous research. One of the most important agricultural products is melon. The aim of this study is to investigate melon production and its effects on the income levels of farmers in Aqcha District. Primary data for this research were collected using questionnaires; 150 questionnaires were distributed among farmers and individuals involved in agricultural activities. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS V24 software with a logistic regression model. The dependent variable was melon production and cultivation, while the independent variables included farmers’ economic status, climate, natural pests, fertile land, cold storage facilities, and government support. The results indicate a positive relationship between melon production and the independent variables, with an R-squared value of 0.500, which is statistically significant.
